I have officially sent my resignation to Abec 11 and will be in Vancouver by mid-November. I do have a job lined up, but I cannot say just what it is yet on a public blog such as this. You can ask if you're curious though. :)
Not entirely sure where I'll be living as of yet... I know that I'll be couch surfing for a bit while I find a place to live permanently and get my Visa/ Citizenship taken care of.
You probably think I'm insane. Quitting my nice paying job, moving away from my super cheap rent at my Mom's house (which is right across the street from the state beach) and leaving all of my friends and family in the States. Well... sometimes you have to do what you think is best for yourself, and I've felt something inside of me telling me to go to Vancouver for almost 6 years now. I've threatened to move there before and now I have every reason in the world.
Yes, I'll miss my family and friends. Yes, I'll miss my co-workers (well... some of them). Yes, I'll miss everyone who I dance with and YES, I'll miss dollar bills...
But to quote Arnold Bennett, "Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts."
That's exciting, Sis. It looks beautiful from the photo. Ever since Bob and Doug McKenzie's movie "Strange Brew" came out when I was 10, I've had an affinity for Canada. So, we'll have to come and visit you once you get settled in. Be careful and take care of yourself. Coming from someone who left California without a job and with a family to take care, I can tell you that it will be hard...but totally worth it if you persevere. I knew you'd go at some point. I'm glad it's working out that you can go sooner. Now we just need to talk Mom into moving to Colorado, so that we can take care of her. Not much left in California for her anymore.
ReplyDeleteWhat I meant to say earlier was..."Coming from someone who left California without a job and with a family to take care of, I can tell you that it will be hard...but totally worth it if you persevere." This is what happens when you try to post a comment and get work done at the same time.
